He currently has over 200 second-generation families in his practice! He has been recognized as one of “America’s Top Pediatricians” for over 20 years. He is the co-author of eight parenting books including the best-selling infant sleep book “On Becoming Babywise.”

Philosophy:

To provide the highest quality medical care available, Dr. Bucknam believes that it’s essential to work closely with parents, to listen, and to truly understand their goals and concerns. His practice emphasizes prevention and education. Good nutrition, healthy sleep, and exercise lay the foundation for a lifestyle that will minimize both physical and emotional illnesses.

Over 30 years of private practice, Dr. Bucknam has seen that one of the most important endeavors parents embark on is actually ‘parenting’. Parents of infants want to know: “How do I get my child to sleep through the night? Parents of toddlers want to know: “How do I teach self-control and obedience?” Parents of older children and adolescents want to know: “How do I teach personal responsibility and respect for others?” Learning how to teach these skills and instilling values into the heart of their child requires the right mindset, a strong family, and an intentional plan that begins in your baby’s first months of life. Helping parents learn how to accomplish these goals has become a passion for Dr. Bucknam. He believes that raising children who are respectful, resilient, and have personal responsibility are a blessing to others is possible for every family.
